Forget Your Age!!

Hydi Hoe stamp lovers!  Michele here today with a quick gelli plate background technique tutorial I used on a super fun birthday card.

Viva Las VegaStamps! used:

I started with a piece of watercolor paper that had a book page pieces layer added with some gel.

A little bit of drywall tape for another layer.

Now a couple dots of Dina Wakley acrylic paint on my gelli plate.

Rolled out with the brayer.

Then some stamping on the paint with the awesome wire rings stamp.

Here is what my layered paper picked up.

This layer is finished with a few stamps of the wire ring stamp in archival ink.

I repeated the layering step with another color of Dina Wakley acrylic paint and the writing circles stamp.
This background technique is so fun and really a powerful pop of texture and depth and color.

And just look at the awesomeness of that wire ring stamp!!

It is hard to see in the photos but these polar bears SPARKLE because they are colored with a clear Wink of Stella.  Who doesn't love a polar bear in a tutu riding a unicycle??!!!

I hope you are inspired to try this background technique and that you share what you create over in our Facebook group!!

Until next time...get inky!!

Journal Page by Fiona

Hello VLVS fans! Fiona here with you on this fine day to share a little art journal spread I created using the fabuloso! Viva Las Vegastamps!

This is a little art journal I like to play in with my stamps. It is never very dimensional bat rather the layers are all about the colours I can combine. This time I wanted to play around with adding a little bit of fluro pink to my art.

And playing with Cat Kerr's new stamps!! I am totally in love with this plate she has created.

I had it in my mind that it was a bit vintage orientated to begin with but once I got it out and started playing with it I soon realised how versatile the designs were.

I ended up with a real hipster/whimsical creation in the end and I really love it!

I will definitely be incorporating these stamps into more of my work in months to come!

She Was ATC's with Shanna

Hello everyone Shanna here and I am sharing some ATC's I made.
Have you heard of the 10 minute challenge? Well I pulled some stuff together and tried to create something in 10 minutes. It was totally fun to go with the flow! So if you give it a try make sure you share with us on the Viva Las VegaStamps Groupies Facebook Page.

Yeah easier said then done. I think making these took me about 20 minutes but it was still fun to try.
I started with squeezing some acrylic paint on some cardstock and spread it with a brayer. Then I grabbed the stamp Doodle Frame - 19825 and stamped it randomly with some black ink. Then I to the stamp Row of Chevrons - 19829 and used some Distress Paint to stamp not he ATC's. Then I got a black watercolor pencil and added some shading around the Doodle Frame. Then wet it so it looked a little more like watercolor. Then I stamped all the sentiments on canvas and frayed the edges. I attached the sentiments using my tiny attacher and bam ATC's are done.

Stamps Used:
She Was a Dreamer - 19635
She Spread Her Wings - 19634
She Was a Wildflower - 19633
Row of Chevrons - 19829
Doodle Frame - 19825

Mail Art Monday with a grungy twist

Hello Again Everyone!

It's me Tera here again with another fun
 Mail Art Monday tutorial

For this piece I was inspired by this months inspiration board.  I just love the vintage, grungy feel of everything.  I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do!

(and be shocked I actually remembered to take a picture at each step!!)

Other Supplies:
Black ink (Versafine Onyx Black)
Distress inks- Ground espresso, weathered wood, Iced Spruce, hickory smoke, pumice stone
distress ink blending tools
water (for droplet effect)
Distress Spray stain -Black Soot , white (picket fence)
Microns

Begin by masking off where you want your address to be (I traced around this with my black micron).  Next I stamped my focal image to build around in black ink.

To start my layers for the background, and give this piece depth, I stamped the next two images in "Hickory Smoke" distress ink.

Next, I wanted to add some more foreground/mid-ground layers so I went back to black and used some of my smaller stamps to partial stamp some of the spaces.

I liked how this step looked so I used distress inks to ink the background with my ink blending tools.  This pulls the piece together, but I wanted a little more grungy feel, so I added some water droplets, as well as drops and splatters from the 2 distress stains.

(this is the 1st layer of ink)

I let everything dry then removed my mask to reveal the final piece.

(Now to find the perfect postage stamp to go with it!)

Dandelion Breeze any occasion card - by Cheetarah Cheda

Hi all! I'm back this week with a card I wanted to share based on our challenge this month.

This is the mood board for our january challenge. Nice vintage looking style and colors.

And inspiration words like foliage, flowers, weeds, nature, bugs, moths, butterflies, wings, numbers, script, invoice, background stamps, vintage, tan, black, white, brown, distressed, grungy,... made me dig up some great VLVS! images to work with. A full list of stamps and other items I used are listed below.

I worked on thick vellum paper on which I used a circle stencil and light and fluffy modeling paste. Then went on to distress it with brownish Distress inks to get that vintage look going. The vellum is nice and smooth so you can get a great transition into colors. The main image I used for this card is Blowing Dandelion and Extra Seed by Susan M. Brown which I stamped twice. First with Staz-On timbre brown and then with versamark ink to emboss it in a golden honey pearl color. The timber brown stamped image gives a nice shadow effect under the embossed image. Then I used Postcards ATC size and other fun stamps for more interest. The sentiment "she flies with her own wings" is a part of this stamp by Cat Kerr which I thought would be fitting to add here. I also stamped this sentiment twice to get a shadow effect.

After I matted the card on cream paper and adhered onto a black card (which I used Miracle Tape for!)
I also embossed the dandelion and sentiment on the envelope, which is also in a honey pearl cream color.

They make a classy pair, the card and envelope and is ready to be written on and mailed out!

Travel the Universe!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  Michele here today with my first post of 2017 and I am sharing a card I created that can be used for any number of occassions.

I used Distress Sprays, Inks, Paint and Markers for all coloring.  The stamps are all stamped in Archival ink.

You'll see laying with stamping and cutting images and popping it up.

I added in some white hand drawn dots for a little dimension.  The sentiment is heat embossing with Ultra High Gloss embossing powder.

A couple of extra hearts...they are Um Wow Studio heart confetti.

The frame is stamped on book page and fussy cut.

I am so glad to be on the VLVS! team for another term and look forward to sharing and inspiring!!
